The Firestone Triangle Building Rehabilitation

The Triangle Building, an industrial building constructed between 1916 and 1930, is located on the historic Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. property in Akron.

Perspectus teamed with Sol Harris Day to re-purpose this expansive, four story building consolidating The County of Summit’s government services under one roof. The historic studio began work by researching and completing the nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, conducting a conditions survey and consulting on Federal + State Tax Credits which totaled just under $10 million.

The building was returned to its industrial appearance by installing replicas of original windows. To restore the damaged building shell, stone sills and lintels were repaired, and brick was repointed, patched and cleaned. A new visitor entry was constructed and a set of stairs was reconfigured to accommodate a freight elevator.
