Going beyond the call of duty, Peter has been an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years, and served on their board for several years. He frequently donates his time and expertise and has provided architectural designs for both renovations and new homes that have been implemented on at least 75 sites around Cleveland. Peter’s creativity and eye for detail reaches beyond the built environment and into his passion for photography, for which he has received multiple AIA Cleveland Design Awards.
Brian is a Senior Project Director in our Historic Architecture studio. His passion for historic preservation and rehabilitation signifies his commitment to enhancing and revitalizing communities and preserving historic landmarks and structures. He is particularly knowledgeable about restoration and adaptive reuse of numerous historic building types and is federally qualified by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines in Historic Architecture. He is adept at leading clients through the historic structures eligibility certification process and working with State and Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credits.
Brian is also an active member of Historic Resource Committees in Cleveland and has been recognized with design awards for multiple historic restoration projects.
Lauren is a Principal for our Historic Architecture studio and a nationally recognized leader in the field of historic preservation. Her portfolio of award-winning projects is a testament to her talent for improving design in a manner sensitive to historic structures, reprogramming existing spaces for adaptive reuse, and solving unique construction problems old buildings can present.
As an industry thought leader, Lauren routinely lectures on historic preservation, design guidelines, and preservation technology at regional and national conferences. She is an active member and past national chair of the AIA Historic Resources Committee, a peer reviewer for the Association for Preservation Technology International’s scholarly journal, The Bulletin, and was part of the advisory group that helped established the Ohio Historic Tax Credit application process.
Ryan Coberly recently graduated from Kent State University with his Master’s Degree in Architecture. As an emerging professional, he is excited to get his hands on a variety of projects before he ultimately chooses a main project sector within Perspectus.
Ryan is eager to continue learning more about working in a professional setting where he will continue to further his skills in design. His goal is to learn quickly and efficiently to become a contributing member of the Perspectus team and the profession.
Ryan intends on being an active member in a variety of organizations and committees in the Greater Cleveland area. New in his career, Ryan is beginning to be involved in AIA while networking to find his niche in the plethora of compelling committees and opportunities in the community.
As a Senior Project Director, Rachel tackles complex, fast-tracked projects, while collaborating closely with clients and coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams. Her knowledge and insight allow her to deliver Lean project management practices, reducing project risk and providing lasting value for clients.
Rachel’s enthusiasm for person-centered design, led her to become EDAC certified (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification) with The Center of Health Design. Rachel has helped to shape significant healthcare projects throughout her career, and she embraces complex design challenges across a wide variety of environments including work for corporate and commercial clients.
Chris has experience with various project types, but as a Project Director, healthcare design is what he is most enthusiastic about. Each project poses new challenges, that when solved, provide an ultimate feeling of reward.
Chris is always eager to take on new projects and learn more about healthcare design. With a master’s degree in both architecture and urban design, his expertise encompasses a variety of building types and project sizes, including both renovation and new construction. His intent is to stay on the cutting-edge of healthcare design trends so he can continue to produce thoughtful, patient-centered designs that offer comfort to people in their time of need.
Chris is actively involved in AIA Cleveland as well as the US Green Building Council and Cleveland based charities. He is also responsible for organizing regular in-house presentations for architects and designers to present topics for Continuing Education Credits.
Robbie’s passion for design extends beyond the built environment; he sees the opportunity for architecture to promote wellness and equity in the community through new design ideas and challenges.
Joining the Perspectus team full time after first working with us as a summer intern, Robbie brings a high level of digital literacy to our visualization and rendering capabilities. His skills in experience design, diagramming and analysis strengthen our project teams for a variety of healthcare and civic projects. His clear communication style and dedication to growth as an emerging professional make Robbie an excellent addition to the Perspectus team.
As a Principal, Bradley is a respected leader with a process-oriented approach to design. He collaborates closely with clients on an array of project types to correlate design intent to the unique goals of each project. Bradley has led complex multi-disciplinary project teams and implemented innovative design solutions for numerous award-winning projects in the healthcare field and beyond. Additionally, he contributes his time to various community-focused design initiatives in Cleveland including design review committees and public realm improvement projects.
Gabriel Firestone brings a wealth of creativity and a fresh perspective to Perspectus as he joins the team as a full-time member following two successful summer internships with the firm. With a professional background in scenic design for theatre, Gabriel's expertise in narrative-driven design adds a unique dimension to his approach in architectural projects. He is particularly enthusiastic about exploring a diverse range of project types within the firm, with a keen interest in the historic and healthcare sectors.

Maura is a young professional and aspiring architect with a passion for architectural conservation and sustainable design. Beginning her career in preservation, she explored these interests through adaptive reuse, primarily conversions of historic structures to multi-family residential dwellings. With experience in state and federal historic tax credit projects, she believes in the economic, ecologic, and aesthetic potential of investing in the existing built environment.
She is excited to expand her knowledge with our team by exploring other sectors of design. Her professional development endeavors include active pursuit of licensure, AIA membership, and serving on the Historic Ohio City Design Review Advisory Committee. Maura is eager to contribute to the Perspectus team with her curiosity, creativity, and digital skills while continuing to grow as an emerging professional.
Gwendolyn is a motivated Project Architect with experience on a variety of project types including healthcare with a range of clients. Her organized style and attention to details propels her to find the best solution for any design scenario. Combined with her big picture outlook on project execution, she is a valued team member.
Gwendolyn also has a passion for supporting the development of emerging professionals by assisting their transition to professional life and sharing strategies for testing preparation. To that end, she was elected as the AIA Ohio Associate Director, 2021-2022. She is also a dedicated member of the Cleveland Chapter of AIA, serving as a member of the Young Architects + Associate Members Committee and the AIA Cleveland Design Awards committee.
Laura is a Senior Project Director in our Historic Architecture Studio. She has over 20 years of experience in Restoration, Rehabilitation and Adaptive Reuse of existing structures. Her passion for reusing existing buildings lies both in saving the history of the building as well as harnessing the embodied energy that these buildings have to offer. Past projects have encompassed a range of sizes and uses from small office spaces to large, multi-building, mixed-use facilities.
Laura’s has extensive experience utilizing state and federal historic tax credits, as well as alternative compliance code to facilitate new design within an existing envelope. She is creative and detail oriented and excels in design, planning, documentation, and client relations.
As our Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager, Bernard oversees the quality control process for construction documents across our practice areas. BIM is critical to providing the highest quality service to our clients, and Bernard creates documents that allow construction teams to extract quantities and properties of materials and permit the isolation of building systems to avoid construction conflicts before they make their way to the field.
Bernard’s attention to detail directly impacts design procedure by allowing all team members to work more efficiently, and his clear communication style helps bring project ideas to life. He has been the driving force behind implementing standardized BIM practices across the firm and he uses BIM skills to create accurate and highly technical documents that are critical to the building design and construction process.
As Director of Finance, Jenna is a valuable resource to project teams and clients alike. She uses her strong background in public and private accounting to manage our systems for tracking, billing and reporting financial information, Jenna has an in-depth understanding of our software systems and works hand-in-hand with our project managers to invoice clients efficiently.
Jenna also manages all general accounting tasks, including payroll. She is extremely competent and always focused on timely and accurate delivery of the financial information needed to keep the firm running smoothly.
As a Senior Project Director, Rhonda has a diverse design portfolio of healthcare, performing arts, civic and academic projects. Her dedication to design is rooted in creating healing environments through a person-centered approach. She is readily able to reconcile the complex pieces of any project to satisfy requirements while keeping the patient experience at the forefront. Rhonda has exceptional project management skills and is a master at collaborating with clients, colleagues, and consultants to solve complex design and technical issues. Olivia is a Project Architect in our Historic Architecture studio. Beginning her career as an intern, Olivia’s passion and enthusiasm for architectural preservation has grown. She is a dedicated team member who is always willing to jump in and lend a hand in any aspect of a project. For Olivia, helping with design work and contributing to the restoration process brings satisfaction. She enjoys researching a building’s past to establish its current context, and appreciates the impact a revitalized historic building has on the community. Olivia also assists with the complex application process for federal and state rehabilitation tax credits and is actively involved in using Revit software to assist with modeling and creating drawings.
Rob is the Perspectus Information Technology Manager and is responsible for maintaining and advancing our technology strategy to handle our firm-wide computing needs. With nearly two decades of experience in IT, primarily specializing in system administration, network administration, information security, and IT management, Rob has a detailed knowledge of the industry’s best practices, an impressive track record of effective technical management, and a meticulous understanding of computer hardware and software systems. He does everything from monitoring daily operations to planning out our hardware & software infrastructure and everything in between.
He is also committed to ensuring the security of all our systems and mitigating technological risk. Rob lays the groundwork for our success by ensuring our team is equipped with the latest necessary applications and equipment. In addition to his expertise, Rob’s coolheaded demeanor and serious multitasking abilities make him a truly invaluable member of the Perspectus staff.
Patrick has established a reputation for design excellence and thought leadership throughout his two decades of nurturing client relationships with campus, academic and cultural institutions.
As a Senior Project Director, Patrick’s planning, programming and design expertise spans a variety of practice areas from performing art venues, museums and interpretive centers to many types of campus buildings. His detailed communication style and collaborative approach to problem solving allows him to work closely with clients to create designs that are both functional and inspirational.
Patrick graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from the Yale School of Architecture. He also served as graduate faculty for Kent State University’s College of Architecture & Environmental Design and Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative.
Thom, who is a Senior Project Director here at Perspectus, has over 20 years of project management, planning and design experience for healthcare, laboratory and academic projects of all scales and sizes.
In addition to his exceptional design and problem-solving skills, Thom is a leader in Revit interchange strategy for large scale projects and has helped implement standard BIM practices across the firm.
Drawing upon his large cache of knowledge about BIM/CAD, standardization, networking and technology implementation, Thom has also worked as an adjunct professor of Computer Applications in Architecture at Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design for many years.
As a Senior Project Director, Eric has experience with all project phases for hospitality, senior living, government and healthcare clients, but his main focus has been commercial retail projects. He has worked for regional and national retail and real estate developers on construction and renovation projects for new shopping centers, renovations of existing shopping centers, build-to-suit tenant spaces and re-demising empty tenant spaces. He is particularly knowledgeable about building codes, permitting, and building envelope standards and requirements.
In his additional role as our Director of Architectural Operations, he leads the firm’s quality assurance efforts with a focus on code research and technical development. He has also updated project management strategies across the firm that have improved team coordination and increased project efficiency.
As Managing Principal, Mike provides sound leadership not only on projects, but for key decisions and important initiatives that shape the future of the firm. Coupled with his reputation for service excellence, Mike has been instrumental in positioning the firm as a leader in healthcare design.

Clint’s collaborative leadership style and in-depth knowledge of codes and regulations for senior living environments is invaluable. He can expertly lead clients through approval processes with health departments, planning and zoning boards, city councils and building departments, and his extensive experience in construction administration allows him to guide the project team through design and implementation to meet the clients’ financial and operational goals.
Polly is a consulting preservation specialist with our Historic Architecture Studio. She is a strategic thinker with a drive for quality results and uses her business background to help clients navigate and simplify complex multi-year projects into achievable phases. Having recently earned her MA in Historic Preservation, she provides architectural and historic research and writing to the studio, that includes national historic register nominations, work with the State Historic Preservation Office, and consulting with clients on State and Federal Historic Tax Credit applications. She is qualified with the National Park Service’s Code of Federal Regulations (36 CFR 61) in Architecture and Historic Architecture and is an approved consultant on the State of Ohio Historic Preservation Office’s Consultant List.
Ray is a Principal whose talent and ambition have contributed to the firm’s growth and reputation as a leading healthcare design firm. As a strategic thinker and problem solver, he is particularly skilled at delivering inventive and modern design solutions that improve and advance healthcare delivery. His project management style is hands-on, and his detailed technical skills enable him to coordinate and execute project assignments with quality and efficiency.

Laura is an Interior Designer who strives to integrate architecture and interior design seamlessly. She has several years of experience prior to Perspectus focused mostly on senior living environments, multifamily residences, and other specialized housing services for the chronically homeless such as permanent supportive lodging, behavioral health facilities, and shelters. With experience in all project phases from design development (including finish selection, furniture specification, and procurement) to construction administration, she is an integral addition to our interiors team. Laura believes that high quality interior design goes far beyond finishes and is passionate about delivering exceptional service and people-centered creative solutions on every project.
With an enthusiasm for leadership, Laura is an active volunteer with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and is currently serving as the Director of the Cleveland Akron City Center for the Ohio Kentucky Chapter of IIDA. Laura recently earned her Certified Healthcare Interior Designer (CHID) certification as well.
Vlad is a Principal who excels in design leadership across multiple practice areas including healthcare, education and laboratory design. He is highly skilled in the design of complex laboratory environments that utilize LEAN planning and design strategies that have contributed to our thriving laboratory practice. His ability to envision operational efficiencies and maximize departmental adjacencies has made him an excellent resource for our laboratory clients.
Vlad is always excited to lead innovative projects with maximum design potential and has been recognized throughout his career for his thought leadership and contributions to the architectural community.
Vlad is also an active Partner with the Cogence Alliance which strives to unite the Cleveland AEC community to elevate the design and construction industry. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level architecture students and is well situated as the leader of our mentorship program for newly registered architects and those pursuing registration.
Tom is a Senior Project Director with 25 years of design and project management experience. The majority of his work has been focused on the healthcare industry and his acute understanding of industry standards, trends and initiatives allow him to smoothly navigate the complex challenges that can arise during project planning and programming. He is particularly good at interpreting technical requirements associated with the Facility Guidelines Institute and U.S. Pharamacopeia. His knowledge and understanding of these healthcare-related standards allow him to plan projects logically to meet all guidelines and achieve maximum functionality and efficiency.

Meg is a Project Director who is a devoted advocate of sustainable design and construction practices. Meg readily embraces challenges, tackling new opportunities with optimism. She is the driven and dedicated leader of our Perspectus team for the annual CANstruction design and build competition that benefits the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. She is also an active member of the Cleveland chapter of AIA, holding positions on both the Young Architects + Associate Members Committee and the AIA Cleveland Committee on the Environment.
With over 30 years of experience in architecture, our Senior Project Director, Amie brings a wealth of knowledge and an energizing vision to our project teams. She has a successful track record completing projects in a variety of areas including healthcare, higher education, laboratory and government clients.
In addition to her architectural design expertise, Amie’s leadership, reputation for client service, and excellent communication skills are invaluable to clients and team members alike. She works closely with clients to establish programs, schedules and budgets for projects, and oversees the entire project team to assure quality and client satisfaction. Amie also works closely with our firm’s interior designers to further strengthen Perspectus’ interior architecture studio.
Sal is a Managing Principal with extensive design and project management experience, leading some of the firm’s largest and most notable healthcare projects. As a skilled communicator, he is particularly adept at working with clients to establish clear consensus on highly specialized and complex projects.
He draws upon that same experience to decisively lead Perspectus forward and solidify plans for the firm’s growth. His depth of knowledge and design acumen also position him as a valued mentor among staff at all levels.
Sal is committed to delivering leading-edge designs focused on patient care. He also believes great buildings are the result of many creative individuals working together. Always encouraging teamwork, Sal uses his keen ability to identify goals and define challenges, and actively engages all team members to brainstorm creative solutions, and ensure the most innovative design ideas are cultivated.
Cheryl is a seasoned Senior Marketing Coordinator with more than two decades of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Over the years, she has polished her marketing expertise, focusing on detailed proposal management skills while demonstrating an exceptional ability to create captivating stories and visually appealing communication, leading to the acquisition of new clients and projects.
Her role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from designing and coordinating marketing content to crafting compelling and strategic proposals. Cheryl's solution-focused mindset ensures that marketing initiatives are meticulously coordinated to align with the firm's messaging and business development goals.
An enthusiastic advocate for engaging, high-quality qualifications and proposal packages, Cheryl collaborates closely with technical staff and leadership to create marketing collateral tailored to the needs of Perspectus' various market sectors. Our Senior Drafting Technician, Don, offers 35+ years of experience preparing detailed and precise construction documents utilizing the latest design software including AutoCAD and Revit. At any given time, Don is involved with multiple new construction and renovation projects from clubhouse additions to complicated laboratory or healthcare facilities. He works closely with the project team and coordinates with consultants to ensure the accuracy of the documents he produces. Don’s experience and efficiency are vital to the success of every project on which he works.
Our Office Manager, Mary keeps Perspectus running smoothly while juggling multiple crucial responsibilities and overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions of the office. From answering pressing questions to processing essential employee and project information, her outgoing personality and attention to detail keep us functioning with maximum efficiency, organization, and friendliness.
Mary also serves as our construction coordinator, efficiently coordinating hundreds of construction-related administrative details surrounding almost every project, logging RFIs and shop drawings, preparing CCDs and change orders, and handling contract agreements. Mary’s professional qualifications also include OAKS-CI Training to coordinate administration of State of Ohio projects.
Always willing to go above and beyond, Mary’s impact far exceeds basic office duties, as the cement that truly keeps us going.
As a Historic Architecture Professional, Alice’s breadth of experience spans more than a decade. She can contribute to any phase of a project, but she has expansive knowledge regarding preventive architectural conservation, which she uses to prepare restoration and preservation plans, technical building assessments and historic community design guidelines.
She is a skilled researcher and also works closely with the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service in the preparation of National Register nominations for State and Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits.
Alice directs our partnership with the Tablet PC Annotation System (TPAS®), an add-on program for AutoCAD© used in building assessment, and she regularly shares her specialized knowledge on our blog, at conferences and through webinars. She is an active member of the Association for Preservation Technology (APT) Eastern Great Lakes Chapter and serves on the Outreach Committee for the APT International Conference.
Scott is a Senior Project Director with a focus on healthcare, educational and commercial design. His experience covers all project phases from schematic design and site planning to construction documentation and construction administration.
Scott is problem solver and critical thinker and invests his time in finding unique solutions that will improve design challenges. He thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with clients as well as the project team. Having a thorough understanding of and commitment to sustainable design, Scott often serves as our LEED Project Administrator on projects and verifies that strict energy management and conservation measures are achieved.
Andrew is a Project Architect and dedicated young professional who takes pride in his work. His architectural experience is diverse having worked on healthcare, country clubs and an extensive amount of senior living work in several states. Andrew also creates a wide variety of renderings for our projects, bringing the clients vision together as one comprehensive image that quickly and accurately presents our design for clarity and understanding. His proficiency with the required software and equipment has also allowed him to assist with 3D printing and modeling for various projects, which is a critical step in our design process. Recently licensed, Andrew is always willing to jump in to help with any project at hand and enjoys gaining experience with a variety of project types.
As our Business Development Manager, Katelin is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and working with the firm’s design and project teams to develop proposals and secure new projects. Prior to Perspectus, she had a successful career working in retail management, and will now focus on assisting our Healthcare Design team with their business development goals.
Katelin graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. Her background in psychology provides her with a strong understanding of human behavior that will allow her to assist clients and get a clearer understanding of their needs. Her direct approach to strategic planning and go-getter attitude make her a crucial addition to Perspectus team.

Dave’s architectural career has been largely informed by his extensive travel experience. For him, travel enables him to frame his view within a much larger context. As our Marketing Coordinator, Madeline is responsible for executing various aspects of marketing campaigns, including coordinating events, managing social media channels, creating marketing materials, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of marketing strategies. She collaborates with our marketing and project teams, ensuring accurate and compelling presentation of information to enhance overall effectiveness.
Madeline graduated from the University of Cincinnati with her BA in Business Administration, with a focus on Marketing. Along with her degree and prior experience, Madeline has a self-driven work ethic comprising strong communication skills and organizational expertise. She has an elevated desire for career development and growth, which makes her an essential addition to the Perspectus team.
Erin is an accomplished Project Designer whose combination of experience and talent have earned her clients' projects multiple design awards. Using her eye for detail and keen design sense, Erin adds value to the built environment by designing functional and beautiful solutions through the careful integration of architecture and interior design.
Often challenged to work within tight budget and schedule constraints, she consistently delivers high-quality interior designs for all types of projects. Having focused much of her career on healthcare environments, Erin is capable of managing even the most complex interior design efforts. She is especially adept at building use programming, interior detail development and documentation, and furniture specification/bid package management.
John brings three decades of experience in design and construction to his role as a Senior Project Director here at Perspectus. He has worked on projects of varying sizes and types, ranging from renovations of multi-functional, complex office buildings and various government buildings, to medical centers and large hospital renovations and expansions.
Well-versed in developing projects and procedures from the users perspective, his expertise in space planning and programming is a critical asset to any design team. He has extensive experience implementing large, complex, multi-phased projects within fully occupied buildings with minimal disruption.
A self-described techie, John is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about computer technology, especially as it pertains to architectural design. He takes an active role in collaborating with our IT manager to makes recommendations and decisions about the software and equipment used throughout the office.
Jim’s more than 30 years of experience in architectural design and firm management, position him well for his role as a Principal and leader of our Senior Living and Clubs + Hospitality studios. His original training as an artist led him to discover his love for architecture and solving problems through creating a synergy of art, design, engineering and construction. His work has also been honored with numerous design awards over the years.
His project experience also includes academic, municipal and healthcare projects, but as an EDAC certified professional (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification) he is a dedicated proponent of innovative design for the aging and he excels at developing design solutions that are person-centered and rooted in research. His experience in Senior Living ranges from life plan communities, independent living, assisted living, and memory care to skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities.
Jim has also earned a reputation as a premier club architect by providing design services to more than 25 public and private golf, tennis and yachting clubs across the Midwest and Florida. He is a frequent speaker on country club and senior living design trends at conferences across the country.
As Director of Marketing, McKensey directs the day-to-day activities of the marketing team, focusing on business development, brand management, brochures and collateral, photography, and firm-wide marketing initiatives.
An articulate and detail-oriented professional, McKensey has an eye for creatively-designed and well-written marketing materials. She embraces the creative process with fresh ideas and is able to effectively communicate our firm’s mission through the compelling stories of our projects.
Her organizational talents are top notch and she upholds a deep commitment to advancing our firm’s strategic growth. McKensey has played a pivotal role in the strategy, development, and launch of our firm’s rebrand, and the promotion of our simultaneous office relocation. She is also active in supporting and attending SMPS Northeast Ohio Chapter programs and events.
