Summa Health Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion

This seven-story pavilion for Summa Health is designed to facilitate the relocation of behavioral services from the St. Thomas Campus to Summa’s main campus. This facilitates better communication between the behavioral and medical aspects of patient care and improves the overall patient experience.

To blend the building with the existing adjacent structures, it is designed to use materials that complement the surrounding campus. The bottom two floors of the pavilion house outpatient services, conferencing space for community and hospital use, as well as a reflection center featuring displays commemorating the historical significance of the St. Thomas facility and Sister Ignatia’s impact on the treatment of substance abuse. An outdoor respite garden connects the interior pavilion spaces to the rest of the Summa campus.

The top four floors house inpatient psychiatric units, each with 16 private patient rooms, on-unit dining, and interior and exterior social spaces.
