MHARS Board of Lorain County Crisis & Receiving Center

Commissioned by the Mental Health, Addiction + Recovery Services (MHARS) Board of Lorain County, Perspectus designed the Lorain County Crisis & Receiving Center to provide a welcoming, purpose-built environment for individuals seeking mental health and substance use disorder services. The facility supports a continuum of care while helping reduce the stigma often associated with accessing behavioral health resources.

The design prioritizes comfort, dignity, and connection to the surrounding environment. Abundant natural light, thoughtfully arranged social spaces, and access to outdoor areas create a calming atmosphere that promotes well-being for both patients and staff. Transparency throughout the building reinforces an approachable, supportive setting from the moment visitors arrive.

Located alongside the existing Nord Center campus, the facility strengthens access to behavioral healthcare within the community while supporting efficient, patient-centered care. Every aspect of the design reflects a commitment to fostering engagement, healing, and recovery through an environment that is both functional and compassionate.
