U.S. Customs and Border Protection Executive Stay Residence + Conference Center

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a Department of Homeland Security agency that facilitates border management and control. Perspectus designed an extended-stay residence and conference center for agents completing training and development sessions at the Global Borders College.

Part of a phased campus expansion, the residence and conference center boasts 252 private rooms divided into lodges of 24, and 7 executive suites. Five distinct buildings are grouped around a central open space that pivots off of the main entrance of the conference center. Natural promotion of team building and group interaction was a design goal for the complex.

The facility was designed to LEED® Gold certification, incorporating geothermal heating and cooling, gray water collection, recycling systems and daylight harvesting concepts. The site reclaimed over 20 acres of land formerly used for precast concrete pipe manufacturing. This project was a Joint Venture with BrooAlexa Design.
