Kent State University Trumbull Campus Lecture Hall Renovation + Expansion

Established in 1954 as an offshoot program to address a critical shortage of elementary school teachers, Kent State’s Trumbull campus is now part of the University’s eight-campus network. Perspectus led an extensive renovation and expansion to the 40+ year old main lecture hall.

The curved building envelope is faced with a textured stone cladding that accentuates the drama of the curved form and leads the visitor into the building lobby. The existing auditorium space was transformed into a facility that allows students and faculty to use the latest teaching and learning tools.

A curved, tiered floor updated to proper row depth and rise offers optimal viewing angles for each of the 300 seats, clear from existing columns. The stage accommodates upgraded audio visual infrastructure and was designed to support a variety of teaching techniques.
