Laurel Lake Retirement Community, a 488-bed Resident Life Plan facility, engaged Perspectus to vision, plan, design and implement a Center for Healthy Living (CHL) in their central commons building. The CHL is based on the concept of engaging residents in person-centered care programs and facilities supporting their “mind, body and spirit”. The new amenities support the seven dimensions of wellness – emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual.
The multi-phased implementation began with a new bistro and its octagonal wood structure, abundant natural light, materials, and palette that set the design aesthetic for the rest of the project. Physical therapy, art studio, art gallery, dining hall and member support amenities where added in phase 2, further enhancing the town center. The CHL culminates with a soring heavy-timber pool structure, spa and fitness center that opens onto a community courtyard.
