Perspectus completed a master plan and implementation to add memory care and assisted living buildings to Brookdale’s Chatfield community. The owner’s goal was to expand services offered at the existing community to prevent residents from being displaced as their acuity levels increased. In addition to the new memory care and assisted living buildings, upgrades were made to the existing independent living common areas, as well as a new entrance canopy and various site improvements to enhance the functionality and first impressions of the existing community.
The 3-story assisted living building contains a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio apartments for a combined 50 units. On the first floor, the residents are supported by dining and bistro spaces alongside activity areas and a beauty salon. Activities and fitness are located on upper floors.
The single story 36-bed memory care building is attached to the assisted living, allowing for shared use of the commercial kitchen and various administrative spaces for added operational efficiency. Intentional design elements, rooted in Evidence-Based Design, include open kitchens which provide appetite stimulation from food aromas and allow residents to participate in activities of daily living, as well as secured, therapeutic gardens with sensory programmed features.
