Mansfield Arts Center Receives AIA Ohio 2023 Merit Award

We're excited to share that Perspectus has been honored with the Merit Award at the 2023 AIA Ohio Design Awards for our work on the Mansfield Arts Center!

Situated in Mansfield, Ohio, this project involved an 8,200 square-foot expansion and renovation, successfully completed in 2021 with collaboration from Seckel Group Architects, who served as the Architect of Record. In our role as the Design Architect, Perspectus developed a thoughtful approach that not only respected but also enhanced the existing building. 

The new structure's massing was carefully influenced by the original building's datums and vocabulary, ensuring a harmonious integration. Specifically designed as an extension of the current education studios, the ceramic and glass arts studio boasts a spacious layout with flexible work tables and accompanying support spaces. Floor-to-ceiling glass was strategically incorporated to showcase the art-making process, allowing passersby to catch glimpses of the kilns at work. The expansion also includes storage and receiving areas to meet the needs of the main building and facilitate expanded programming. Our goal was to create an environment that inspires and supports those who come together at the center for learning, teaching, and creative endeavors.
