November 18, 2022 // Recognition
Perspectus is pleased to announce that our work on the Mansfield Arts Center has received the Honor Award from the AIA Cleveland 2022 Design Awards.
Located in Mansfield, Ohio, this 8,200 square-foot expansion and renovation was completed in 2021 with the help of Seckel Group Architects, acting as Architect of Record.
As Design Architect for this addition, Perspectus conceptualized an approach that respected and enhanced the existing building, inspiring and supporting those who gather there to learn, teach and create. The new building’s massing is informed by the datums and vocabulary of the original structure.
The ceramic and glass arts studio is an extension of the existing education studios, with a large open space, loose work tables, and support spaces. Floor-to-ceiling glass puts the process of making art on display, offering views from outside to the kilns inside. The addition provides storage and receiving spaces for the main building and helps accommodate expanded programming.
Each year, AIA Cleveland recognizes excellence in design by inviting local firms to submit their best work to be reviewed by nationally renowned juries from all over the country. After two years of virtual Awards Ceremonies, the 2022 Cleveland Design Awards were finally held in person on November 18th in Downtown Cleveland. As AIA Ohio Associate Director for 2021-2022, Perspectus Gwendolyn Frank, AIA, assisted the 2022 AIA Cleveland Design Awards on the Awards Committee.
We are grateful to have received this award, and we are looking forward to the next Design Awards! Congratulations to all of this year's honorees!
