U.S. Customs and Border Protection is an agency within the Department of Homeland Security that facilitates border management and control. Its Advanced Training Center (ATC) campus sits on 224 acres located outside of Harpers Ferry.
As part of a phased campus expansion, Perspectus designed the Global Borders College building to provide advanced law-enforcement training and strategic leadership education that is professional, ethical and enterprise-oriented. The building’s shape orients training rooms and a computer laboratory around a two-story central gathering space, with dedicated staff offices and conferencing support on the second level.
The building incorporated green roofs, 100% use of recycled gray water, geothermal heating and cooling, raised floor air distribution, natural light harvesting, energy saving lighting, and wood harvested by sustainable forestry practices.
